You will most likely know The Echo Park Project from last year’s (2019) release “El Pin Pin Pon” which gave us two fantastic tracks that got played a lot by Salsa DJs up and down the country… “Zabaramba Kiri Kiri Bon” and “Mi Musica”. This is on top of well over a decade of putting out good dance floor friendly music – they are a band worth checking out if you don’t already know them.
Carlo Lopez, leader of The EPP, grew up in New York in the 60s and 70s during the explosion of the Salsa sound and you can hear these influences in the band’s music. On top of that he is also a trained sound engineer so the production is great on the band’s output.
Best known for playing timbales in the “brown eyed soul” group El Chiacno, Venezuelan born Rudy Regalado set up his own band (ultimately known as Chevere) in 1983 and for my money put out his stand out track on 1994’s “La Gloria” album. Check out “Lo Que Fue Machito” and see for yourself… dance floor dynamite!
The EPP’s latest release sees them dropping a tribute to Rudy Regalado – it is really great solid Salsa that I anticipate will go down great on the dance floor. I can’t wait to try it out!
