Unless you live in a healthy sized commune and are all isolating together you are going to be a bit restricted when it comes to finding dance partners!
Experts?
If you are lucky enough to live with your ideal dancing partner then you are set – fire up the laptop and dig into the resources available… you will be experts by the time lock-down finishes!
If you are not living with your ideal list of dance partners then you are most likely going solo for a little while. This is not going to be as bad as you think – it will be a great opportunity to work on some of the areas that may not always get the attention they deserve. For example:
- Shines / footwork
- Body movement
- Musicality
There are plenty of free resources out there to get stuck in to – YouTube has oodles of Salsa to watch, for example, and you would need a lifetime of lock-downs to get through it all – start with our channel which has some clips which may serve as good reminders to moves & routines you have learned.
If you’re looking for some info on Salsa music – song styles, musicality etc – our friend, timbales player and leader of Tromboranga Joaquin Arteaga has a great channel that is well worth checking out.
Online classes
If you want to recreate the weekly Salsa class feeling at home (any time you want) you can head over to our Abanico Salsa online classes for more routines than you can shake a stick at! We have Salsa On1, On2, Cha Cha Cha and Ladies’ styling all available and accessible immediately.
As always – don’t hesitate to shout if you have any questions – or comment below to let us know how you are getting on and what you have been doing to keep dancing.
